The Trap

The 9-to-5 wasn't built for people like you.

You already know the feeling. You outwork the room, hit every number, stay late — and the paycheck doesn't move an inch. The person next to you coasts and takes home the same thing. Effort in, nothing out. For someone wired to compete, that's slow torture.

The gym taught you the opposite lesson: you get out exactly what you put in. More reps, more results. Here's the truth nobody tells driven young people — you don't have a work-ethic problem. You have an arena problem. You just need somewhere that finally pays you for the way you already operate.

"Give a competitor a scoreboard and a reason, and they'll out-work a whole room of people who clock in for the minimum."
First, The Work

Let's be clear — this is a job.

A real one. Phones, laptops, real conversations, real clients. The kind of work that rewards reps and punishes excuses. Nobody's handing you anything — you earn every inch. That's the part most people can't hack. You're not most people.

REMOTE SALES · 2026 HIRING CLASS
01 / DISCIPLINE
You're in the gym at 6 a.m. when nobody's making you
↓ becomes ↓
Daily reps that compound into income. The people who win here aren't the most talented — they're the ones who do the boring work every single day. Sound familiar?
02 / COACHABILITY
You'll take hard feedback if it makes you better
↓ becomes ↓
A mentor who's already where you want to be — running your reps with you, fixing what's broken, and shrinking the learning curve from years to weeks.
03 / COMPETITIVENESS
You keep score even when nobody else is
↓ becomes ↓
A real leaderboard. Your numbers, ranked, every week. No politics, no seniority — production talks. The fastest 22-year-olds here are out-earning people twice their age.
04 / RESILIENCE
You've been knocked down and come back harder
↓ becomes ↓
You'll hear "no" more than you're used to. Most people quit. Competitors don't — they know the one "yes" is on the other side of the grind.
05 / TEAM
You'd rather win with a team than grind alone
↓ becomes ↓
This isn't a cubicle and a manager. It's a roster. You plug into Surace Smith & Partners Organization — the 100+ agent team behind Surace Smith & Partners Organization that trains together, climbs together, and celebrates every win together. A program, not a payroll.
No Smoke. The Real Thing.

What you'd actually be doing.

You'd be a licensed life-insurance agent serving first responders, veterans, and union families — people who run toward danger for a living and want to know their families are covered if the worst happens. That's the mission. It matters.

It's virtual: phone, video, your laptop. It's 1099 commission — no salary, no cap, and nobody handing you anything. You bring the work ethic; we hand you the training, the leads, the proven scripts, and a coach who's already done it — plus a 100+ agent team (Surace Smith & Partners Organization) in your corner from day one.

// You'll need a state life-insurance license. No degree or experience required — we walk you through getting licensed before you ever talk to a client. This is an independent-contractor role; you're building your own thing.

Then, The Life

Put in the reps. This is what they buy.

Nobody here is selling you a beach chair and a dream. But the people who do the work — really do it — build a life on their own terms. Their schedule. Their ceiling. Their crew. This isn't a fantasy. It's a finish line for the ones who earn it.

Don't take our word for it

Jim SuraceCoach · Business Owner · AO of the Year 2006 & 2008+

James Surace was in real estate before joining American Income Life Insurance Company. When the real estate market softened, James seized the AIL opportunity. He was attracted to American Income Life because of the leads made available — giving agents places to go and reasons to be there.

His first year with AIL, James was runner-up for Agent of the Year. He was promoted to Business Owner his second year with the company and was so successful he built his own 12,000-square-foot office building. He was the AO of the Year in 2006 and 2008, and is proud that 10 other Business Owners have been promoted out of his office.

"This position has allowed me to fulfill a purpose greater than myself and given me an income that will extend to impact generations. It’s an amazing position of influence where you build riches while changing the world through improving lives. Life insurance is the only product people can buy that can take care of those they love most if they’re not there to do it."

To those considering a career move, James says: "My advice is to get in the AIL door as quickly as you can. With AIL, I can live out my purpose 24/7 — my interests, hobbies, and mission in life are impacting people’s lives in a positive way, to serve people."

AIL has given James the opportunity to serve through his personal and financial involvement with organizations like the Jesus Film Project, City Mission, LOVE INC., his local church, Across Borders, Love Mercy Organization, the All-School Assembly Program, Lighthouse Ministries, and the YMCA.

Marcus SmithCoach · With AIL since age 19 (2001)+

Marcus Smith started with the company in September 2001. He was an intern at a small business college and had to complete an internship. At the time he had interviews with three different business owners, and was recommended to interview with Jim Surace, who owned the business in Ohio. During that interview — even though he’d never heard of American Income Life — he was blown away by Jim’s character and what he’d accomplished with AIL.

Marcus was excited about what American Income Life was doing with labor unions, credit unions, and associations. Working with blue-collar and working-class families was a background he was familiar with and had a passion to serve. He asked Jim if there were any intern positions open, started in the North Royalton, Ohio office, and loved it. "Luckily for me, I did a decent enough job at the internship to be given a full opportunity to stay. So I’ve been with AIL since I was 19 years old," he says.

"The way I came aboard American Income Life was a little unique, but through that interview, I really wanted in. I really wanted what they had."

Matt ParksCoach · Finance, Kent State · Multiple-time top Company leader+

Matt Parks majored in finance at Kent State University and earned his Bachelor of Science in 2003. He worked as a consultant for a risk-management firm until 2009, when he made the transition to American Income Life (AIL).

"I was drawn to American Income Life when I saw my younger brother excelling at AIL at a very young age," Matt recalls. "What’s been most rewarding is that after hitting my own goals, I’m able to help others do the same. My greatest accomplishment has been being recognized multiple times as a top company leader at our annual Convention. If I could start over, I’d have thought bigger sooner. If you’re considering a sales or leadership position, have a great attitude, give 100% effort, be a coachable player, and operate with integrity."

"Our business creates amazing opportunities for people to develop themselves and their careers while removing financial concerns," he states. "Our products help families at one of the worst times in their lives — when everyone else is sending them bills, American Income Life is the company that sends them a check."

In his free time, Matt reads, works out, and enjoys his family. "I love sports — basketball, football, golf, fitness — and spending time with my family. I’m also involved with charities that help children and fund cancer research," he says.

Straight answers

Questions, handled.

Do I need sales experience?+

No. Most of our team started with zero sales experience. You get a proven, word-for-word presentation plus daily training and a coach in your corner — coachability and work ethic matter far more than a résumé.

Is this commission-only?+

Yes — it's a 1099, commission-based role with no income cap. That's what makes the upside real, but it also means earnings aren't guaranteed and vary from person to person based on effort, skill, and consistency.

How do the leads work?+

You're given access to warm leads — families who already requested information about coverage, often through their union or organization. No cold calling, no door knocking, no buying your own leads.

Do I need a license?+

Yes, a state life-insurance license is required to sell. No degree or prior experience needed — we walk you through getting licensed before you talk to a client. Most people finish in about two weeks.

Can I really work remote?+

Yes, 100%. All you need is a laptop, a phone, and internet. Our agents run their week from home or anywhere they want.

Who's the company?+

You'd represent Globe Life / American Income — an A+ BBB-rated carrier that works with unions and organizations across the country, serving first responders, veterans, and working families.

What are vested renewals?+

Beyond the upfront commission, each policy can pay you recurring renewal income for as long as the policyholder keeps their coverage active — income that builds on top of new sales over time.

How fast can I start earning?+

Many new agents make their first sale within the first few weeks. We hand you the leads, the script, and the training — so the main variable is your effort.
